Your spendable in-app balance vs. on-chain USDC.
Your in-app balance is the spendable cash you hold inside Rivalizer. It funds two things: the cash leg of your wagers (contracts) and buying trophies. This guide explains what the balance is, where to see it, and how it differs from on-chain USDC.
What the in-app balance is
| Property | Detail |
|---|---|
| What it represents | Spendable USD credit held in your Rivalizer account (sometimes called "tokens") |
| Units | Whole dollars only — no cents. Amounts are integers so cash and trophy face values add up cleanly as combined collateral |
| Where it's stored | Your account on Rivalizer's servers (user.balanceUsd), not in a crypto wallet |
| What it's for | The cash side of wagers/contracts, and purchasing trophies |
| How it grows | Card top-ups (see Adding Funds), trophy sell-backs, gifts received, and wager/payout settlements |
This is different from on-chain USDC, which lives in your own connected crypto wallet on the Base network. Your in-app balance and your USDC balance are two separate pools of money. See Adding Funds for how each is funded.
Where to find it
- Log in to Rivalizer.
- Open the Wallet page from the navigation.
- The large In-app balance card at the top shows your current balance in dollars.
The Wallet page is organized into stacked cards:
| Card | What it does |
|---|---|
| In-app balance | Shows your balance and lets you add funds (Card or USDC) |
| Gift a user | Send cash, give a trophy you own, or buy a trophy for someone (by wallet address or username) |
| Buy USDC with a card | Buy USDC to your own wallet on Base via an outside provider (not in-app balance) |
| Withdraw to USDC | Cash out your in-app balance to a crypto wallet (see Withdrawals) |
| On-chain USDC | If your wallet is linked, shows your USDC balance and on-chain deposit/withdraw for contracts |
What you can do with your balance
- Stake on wagers / contracts — the in-app balance covers the cash leg of a position.
- Buy trophies — trophy purchases are debited from this balance.
- Gift it — use the Gift a user card to send cash to another user by wallet address or username.
- Cash out — convert it to USDC and send it to a crypto wallet (see Withdrawals).
Transaction history (the ledger)
Every change to your balance writes a signed ledger entry (a deposit, a stake, a payout, a withdrawal, a refund, a gift). Each entry records the amount and your balance after the change, so your history always reconciles to your current balance.
Linking a wallet
You can use your in-app balance today without linking a wallet. Linking a crypto wallet (from your Profile page) is only needed to:
- Withdraw your in-app balance to USDC, and
- Deposit/withdraw on-chain USDC directly for contracts.
