Identity & KYC
When a quick identity check is required and what it asks for.
This guide covers two things: the lightweight identity check (KYC) Rivalizer sometimes asks for, and how to manage your public profile.
Identity verification (KYC)
Rivalizer keeps verification as light as possible. Today it's a quick, self-attested check — you tell us a few details and confirm a couple of statements. There's no document upload required for now.
What you provide
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Full legal name | At least 2 characters |
| Date of birth | You must be at least 18 |
| Country | Select your country of residence |
| Confirmation: adult | "I am at least 18 years old." |
| Confirmation: eligible | "Using Rivalizer is legal where I live, and the details above are accurate." |
Once submitted and accepted, your status becomes Verified, and you'll see a confirmation with your name and country.
When verification is required
You can browse, sign in, edit your profile, and use your crypto wallet without verifying. KYC is only required for the steps that involve fiat money:
| Action | KYC required? |
|---|---|
| Email / wallet sign-in | No |
| Editing your profile | No |
| Depositing funds with a card | Yes |
| Buying trophies with a card | Yes |
| Cashing out / withdrawing | Yes |
If you attempt one of these before verifying, Rivalizer sends you to the Verify your identity page first. After you verify, it returns you to what you were doing.
Notes & limits
- Verification is self-attested for now. Rivalizer may ask for a government ID before larger transactions in the future.
- Rivalizer cannot serve some countries (sanctioned regions). If yours is blocked, you'll see "Rivalizer is not available in your country."
- All checks (full legal name, valid date of birth, 18+, supported country, both confirmations) must pass or you'll get a clear message about what to fix.
Your profile
Your profile is your identity across Rivalizer — it's where your reputation, stats, store, wallet, and account settings live.
Display name
Your display name is how you appear everywhere on Rivalizer.
- Go to Profile → Edit profile.
- Type a new Display name (up to 60 characters).
- Click Save changes.
If you signed up with email, your display name defaults to the part of your email before the @. If you signed in with a wallet, it defaults to a generated name you can change anytime.
Profile picture (avatar)
- In Profile → Edit profile, click the avatar circle (the camera icon appears on hover).
- Choose an image — PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF, up to 5MB.
- It uploads and updates immediately.
You can alternatively paste an Avatar URL instead of uploading a file.
Linking a wallet
A linked wallet is what lets you take contracts and issue your own.
- Go to Profile → Connect a wallet.
- Step 1 — Connect: Connect your wallet (injected browser wallet or WalletConnect).
- Step 2 — Sign to link: Your wallet signs a message proving you own the address. This is free — no gas, no funds moved (Sign-In with Ethereum).
Once linked, your profile shows the connected address with a Linked badge.
A wallet can only be linked to one Rivalizer account. If the wallet is already attached to a different account, linking is refused.
What's public vs. private
Other people viewing your profile (by wallet address) see only a curated public view: your display name, avatar, reputation, join date, and public stats (win %, contracts issued/accepted, trophy value). Your email, balance, and account role are never exposed publicly.
